A warrior from a secretive and little-known Veena clan, Njola carries a formidable and mysterious presence. Her quiet and serious demeanor is often seen as cold to thoe who do not know her. But on the battlefield, her ferocity is hard to ignore. Blessed by an old and strange power that she refers to as the Ancestors, Njola is able to perform feats of strength that few others can. She has taken to wandering Eorzea in search of something, all the while caring for a mute viera child named Eira. She works as a sword-for-hire and has already gained quite the reputation.

Appearance

Njola is a tall and imposing Viera woman who is built like a warrior. Usually clad in some form of armor, she carries herself proudly. Her skin is pale, an almost ash-blue color that is a common feature in her clan. Her hair is long and a dark grey-brown. Usually it is tied back away from her face or tied under her chin. Njola's ears are long, and stand tall with little extra fur. One of her most striking features is the line of tattoos that extend down the bridge of her nose and under her lips; the pattern is a deep blood red color.

Personality

As a woman who is far more comfortable in combat than any social situation, Njola has a hard time finding her place in large groups. She is quiet, does not find any purpose in speaking unless it is both necessary and true. Some appreciate her nature while working as a sword-for-hire, others find her rather cold at first glance. Though judged as a warrior before all else, underneath is a woman who cares deeply for her people, her beliefs and her land. There are few who can say they possess the conviction that she does.

Njola is a woman with her own code that she follows. She values honor, truth and strength above all else. She does not find a need to explain the complex set of rules she lives by to anyone else. But if she gives her word, or her sword, to a cause, there is little that would make her stray from such a contract.

Hooks

Below is a list of hooks that might help us facilitate an IC reason for meeting. These are just suggestions, and the most common ways to get involved with this character. Have another idea or way to hook in some roleplay? Feel free to let me know.

  • Sellsword: To fund her travels, inn rooms and meals for both herself and her young ward, Njola takes various jobs that pay for her skill with a sword. Need a bodyguard? Need an escort? Need some intimidating muscle? Njola is certainly someone who can get the job done.

  • Fellow Viera: As a member of a reclusive clan that rarely dealt with outsiders, Njola feels most comfortable with fellow viera even though it is very unlikely that they would know of her village. She finds herself more at ease, and more trusting, with others of her kin.

  • Wanderer: Njola has found herself in various new places since coming down from her mountain. She rarely stays in one place for long and can be working or staying in any of the city-states if required. Why she travels and the story of the mysterious girl in her care is not one she easily shares, however.

  • Eira Kaldr : Eira is strange Viera child from the same village as Njola. After the everyone else in the village vanished, Njola found Eira at the center of it all. She is a mere adolescent, at the cusp of coming of age. Eira is completely mute, or at least has never chosen to speak since Njola found her. She obdiently follows on Njola's heel almost everywhere she goes. Njola herself does not quite know what to make of the girl. Part of her heart may harbor some blame or suspicion of her involvement in what transpired at the village, but another sees her as one of the Kaldr, the people she is sworn to protect above all else.

Player Characters

  • Vjrn Al-sahnin: A woman Njola found by chance. Various whispered names and rumors led her to Vjrn's divining shop in search of answers in regards to her missing village. While not sure what the woman's powers had shown, she believes that working with her may eventually give answers. And so, she swore her sword to her to call upon when needed in exchange.

Hey, I'm Hithren, and I've been doing this RP thing for about fifteen years, about four of them being in FFXIV. Below is some stuff you might want to know about me before engaging to make it easier on the both of us.

Disclaimer

As a general disclaimer: I suffer from major anxiety. If I do not answer or engage with you right away, please do not be offended. Sometimes I freeze up, or get discouraged.

I do not engage in ERP unless it is with close friends who I have gotten to know OOCly, and my characters have formed bonds with ICly. If you're looking for someone to satisfy such things, I'm likely not the roleplay partner for you. Don't get me wrong, I love ships and romance, but I do prefer organic development above all else.

I am not a multi-verse/AU roleplayer.

I prefer my roleplay to be lore-compliant ( within reason, we all bend a bit here and there), story/plot-driven, and mature-themed.

Accessibility

I am located in the PDT/PST timezone. At the moment I have a fluctuating schedule, so I prefer setting things up in advance rather than walk-ups. My main cast of characters are located on the Balmung server, and I do have some alts on Mateus and Goblin. I am more than happy to accommodate others via the World Visit system, however.

I predominantly roleplay in-game, and prefer this method over all others. I am open to Discord RP if that is the only way we can work something out, but I will warn in advance, I do tend to be slow to reply.
